Adelphi Limerick Slaney 1991 23 YO Cask #8265Today I dig into a fairly old Irish whiskey. This is a single cask release from independent bottler Aldephi. It was distilled in 1991, and bottled in 2015, with a total outturn of 202 bottles. It was matured in a refill hogshead, and from what we have been able to gather the distillery that produced this whisky is Cooley.

The Adelphi Limerich Slaney 1991 23 YO Cask #8265 seems to be sold out everywhere already. A bit too bad really, as I had meant to do my review while it was still available. There is only so much whisky I can manage to taste and review though. Anyways it was available a short time ago, at around GBP 120.

Nose (22/25): Very fruity! Apples, pears, mango, pineapple and banana. Behind the massive fruitiness I detect some vanilla and light caramel notes. After a few minutes I pick up red berries and mild citrus notes.

Taste (23/25): Very smooth mouthfeel, and quite light. The immediate delivery is dominated by pepper and fruits. There is a hint of oaky bitterness here, but it is very well balanced with the fruity sweetness.

Finish (22/25): Takes a turn for the richer and fuller now, fruit flavored honey. Warm and very long finish. Slightly fizzy.

Balance (23/25): What a fun dram! It is very lively and fruity for its age.

Score (90/100)
