Ardbeg Vintage_Y2K

Ardbeg Vintage_Y2K, 23 YO, 46%

“A glitch in the Ardware” as the distillery says. Fun, if a little geeky. But I like geeky. Some of you are old enough to remember the craziness of the Y2K scare. Fun name for a vintage 2000 Ardbeg. This whisky has been matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks.

The Ardbeg Vintage_Y2K is available to buy in Norway at NOK 8500 (17480401).

Nose: More sherry-forward than the TBbatch6, with less peat. Vanilla and subtle oakiness take the lead, without any citrus. Over time, a whiff of green herbs sneaks in.

Taste: Medium-bodied, soft and smooth with reduced peat. Sweet licorice mingles with creamy notes of vanilla and dried fruits. Lovely mellow peatiness feels very comforting.

Finish: Long and lingering, with hints of malt and menthol, followed by chocolate and just the barest hint of citrus right at the end.

Comment: A well-rounded and smooth experience.
