This “official” independent bottling was released in 2018. Gordon & MacPhail have been the official bottler for a number of Scottish distilleries over the years.

The Ardmore 1998 Distillery Labels (G&M) is still available to buy in the UK at around GBP 92.

Nose: Cigar box, leather, old saw mill, malt and white pepper. Creamy vanilla and orchard fruits. With time cinnamon, honey and hints of citrus and ashes.

Taste: Medium body and a crisp mouthfeel. Again some fruitiness - mostly apple now. White and black pepper. Ginger and hints of camphor and cinnamon. Whiff of smoke.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Still fairly malty. Creamy vanilla and some honey. A bit greener, almost floral on the finish. Fizzy ginger playing in the background.

Comment: A very fine introduction to the world of Ardmore.
