Arran Heavily Peated - Sherry Casks

Arran Heavily Peated - Sherry Casks, NAS, 50 %

This is an Arran bottling exclusive for Sweden. A bit of an odd one, as Arran now has their second distillery, Lagg, selling heavily peated single malt. But Arran did do some heavily peated production since very early on, so I imagine there is a lot of peated Arran in stock.

You can get your hands on the Arran Heavily Peated in Seden at SEK 599 (501).

Nose: What a lovely and balanced blend of sweet wood fire peat and dried fruits. This multi-layered aroma offers true comfort. Imagine a warm, lazy summer afternoon on an Isle of Arran beach. Nutty undertones emerge with increasing notes of dried fruits, especially prunes and apricots.

Taste: Medium to full-bodied, it shakes you out of that lounge chair with a rough, raw, yet utterly charming peaty punch. Notes of dirty sugar cubes and equally gritty milk chocolate blend with soot, ashes, and barbecued orange slices.

Finish: Medium to long, continuing in the same vein but getting dirtier with time. The spiciness gradually intensifies with more pepper notes, while the fruitiness grows darker and more ominous—in the best possible way.

Comment: A captivating journey from start to finish.
