Baker's Bourbon
Baker's Bourbon, 7 YO, 53,5 %
Baker's Bourbon is one of the small batch brands by Beam Suntory. Other small batch brands in their range are Knob Creek, Booker’s, and Basil Hayden’s. Here's what they say about Baker's Borubon:
Named after Baker Beam, grandnephew of the legendary Jim Beam, Baker’s Bourbon honors the family’s long history and love for distilling. Aged seven years and bottled at 107 proof; utilizes a special strain of jug yeast which results in a silky smooth texture and consistent taste from batch to batch.
I have not found any further details on the mash bill used to produce this bourbon. If you know any details on this, please let me know in the comments field here. Joshua has now provided me with the mash bill for Baker's Bourbon, and it is 77 % corn, 13 % rye, and 10 % barley. A quite corn heavy mash bill.
You can buy Baker's Bourbon in Norway at NOK 700 (item number 2570801), in Sweden at SEK 700 (item number 4041101) and in the UK at GBP 38.
Nose (23/25): Lovely, delicate and mellow nose. Lean back and relax. Soft leather, warm spices, cinnamon, vanilla, fudge, and fruit drops - summer fruits and darker fruits.
Taste (22/25): A bit more spicy to taste. Still sweet; caramel, vanilla and maple syrup. Hints of oak and nuts.
Finish (20/25): Caramel and nuts. A bit short on the finish.
Balance (22/25): A very fine cowboy dram, this. I think I'll have another. Cheers!
