Ben Nevis 10 YO, 46 %

Ben Nevis 10 YOToday I am reviewing the standard bottling from Ben Nevis. Ben Nevis is located in Western Highlands, and is owned by Nikka, Japan.

The Ben Nevis 10 YO is matured in a mix of bourbon and sherry casks.

You cannot buy the Ben Nevis 10 YO in Norway or Sweden presently, but if you go online you can buy it from the UK at around GBP 30.

Nose (21/25): Soft and light. Malty and fruity. Caramel, vanilla and spices. Delicate but firm and well-defined. After a few minutes it opens up a bit more.

Taste (21/25): Firm is again something that springs to mind, robust is another. Caramel, vanilla, camphor and oak. A nice fruitiness.

Finish (20/25): More oaky and dry now. Caramel and dark chocolate. Slightly bitter. There is a light toasted feel, like demerara sugar slightly burnt in the pan. Medium to short finish.

Balance (20/25): A bit young-ish, but leave it in the glass for a few minutes and it opens up nicely.

Score (82/100)
