This is the very first release from new kid on the independent bottler block; Single Malt Dreams. The Ben Nevis 1995 25 YO Single Malt Dreams was distilled November 1995, matured in a single ex-bourbon hogshead (cask #962), and bottled August 2021. All in all 221 bottles (well, actually 220.8 bottles).

Single Malt Dreams is, at least for now, focusing on releasing whisky exclusively for the Norwegian market. Stephen Mathis of Malt Impostor fame is the both the brains and the brawn behind the company.

You can buy the Ben Nevis 1995 25 YO Single Malt Dreams in Norway at NOK 2499 (13710001).

Nose: Old, wooden attic - warmed by the sun on a lazy afternoon. Crates of oranges in a corner, next to a table laden with fruity hard candy dusted with icing sugar. Cotton candy with time, and a hint of cut grass.

Taste: Medium body. Honeyed sweetness. Mixed spices and herbs - white pepper, aniseed, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves standing out. Hints of tomato plant and green herbs as well.

Finish: Long finish. Refined and delicate now. Fairly oaky, but it is perfectly balanced with fizzy ginger, creamy vanilla, icing sugar, and mild citrus.

Comment: A distinguished old Ben Nevis.

Score: 88/100
