Nose: Rather earthy and Autumnal on the nose. Wet leaves, ripe - almost over ripe - fruits, and a hint of stewed vegetables. Really love the warm and exotic spices on the nose as time passes. It reminds me of my grandfather’s home made sweet curry, with lots of coconut, pear, apple, sweet ginger and all sorts of ingredients he never revealed to us. Some oakiness and vanilla as well, but who cares.
Taste: Full bodied and spicy. The fruitiness takes the back seat for now. The assorted spices, hot and mild - rich and exotic - take a firm hold of the steering wheel.
Finish: Medium long finish. The spices remain - clean, sharp and distinct - all the way. More fruitiness coming to the fore now. Also hints of coconut and earthy vanilla in the end.
Comment: Wow. Different, but in a very likeable manner. Here’s to you grandpa!
