Bruichladdich 18 YO

Bruichladdich 18 YO, 50%

The Re/Define Eighteen from Bruichladdich Distillery is here. Mainly matured in ex-bourbon casks, but there is also a small amount of ex-Sauternes wine casks and ex-port wine casks in the mix. The casks were vatted and married for a full nine months before bottling.

This whisky was distilled in 2004, and is what Bruichladdich labels a single vintage expression.

The Bruichladdich 18 YO goes on sale in Norway next week at NOK 1850 (17322501), and available direct from the distillery at GBP 150.

Nose: Soft, delicate, and delightfully fruity, with playful notes of vanilla, caramel, and a drizzle of runny honey.

Taste: Full-bodied with a vibrant mix of red berries and orchard fruits, rounded out by smooth milk chocolate.

Finish: Medium to long, with the chocolate deepening into a darker note, complemented by ripe banana and lingering vanilla.

Comment: Layers that charm from start to finish.
