It has been a while since I last reviewed a release by Swedish independent bottler Svenska Eldvatten. Well, time to fix that. Today I review the sherry bomb that is Bruichladdich 2006 9 YO Cask #511. Cask #511 was 1st fill oloroso sherry hogshead. The whisky was distilled in June 2006, and bottled in November 2015, with a total outturn of 285 bottles.
The Bruichladdich 2006 9 YO Cask #511 first came on sale at the Cinderella Whisky Fair 2016 in mid-January. The official release was February 1, and the price was SEK 1295.
Nose (22/25): Massive wave of red berries and dried fruit (mainly raisins and dates), burnt (just slightly) toffee, aniseed, mixed nuts, assorted chocolates and candy, and lightly salted snacks. This is all you need on a Saturday night! This is a true sherry bomb on the nose.
Taste (22/25): Spicy up front; black and white pepper. Then there is a wave of fruit; dried fruits and fresh fruits - soaked in fine sherry. Almonds and toffee.
Finish (21/25): Medium long finish. More sweet now. Chocolate covered marzipan.
Balance (22/25): Wow, what a delightful dessert!
Score (87/100)
