Bunnahabhain 1991 Wheskykôrka 2 Lightly PeatedThe Swedish independent bottler Svenska Eldvatten are at it again. Today we review their Bunnahabhain 1991 Wheskykôrka 2 Lightly Peated.

Distilled in November 1991, matured in a bourbon hogshead, and bottled in September 2014 with an outturn of 120 bottles.

This whisky was released on April 1, 2015, at a sales price of SEK 1295. Sadly it is already sold out.

Nose (22/25): Soft and delicate. This is a rather shy whisky, so we have to give it some time in the glass. Caramel, vanilla, apples and honey. All rounded off with a dose of mild and soft peat. It is actually quite malty.

Taste (22/25): Spicy and salty. Mild caramel, mild smokiness, pepper and chocolate. The mouthfeel is rich and almost like honey. The peat appears almost like ashes now.

Finish (23/25): Rich, warm and lingering. Peppery at first, then it turns more fruity and almost sugary. The ashes are still here, mixed with licorice. Very soft and delicious landing.

Balance (22/25): What a delightful dram again. I do have a weak spot for Bunnahabhain, and I appear to have a similarly weak spot for the guys at Svenska Eldvatten. Peter and Tommy really know how to pick great casks for their releases.

Score (89/100)
