Clynelish 1983 (2000) Samaroli #2684
Clynelish 1983 (2000) Samaroli #2684, 47 %
At the whisky festival in Limburg there was a very wide selection of interesting whiskies. There were also some fellow bloggers working and enjoying the festival. Marcus Weber (Whiskycuse) helped out for Jens Drewitz at the Sansibar Whisky stand. They had a lot of whiskies to choose from, and Marcus kindly helped me to pick one.
I chose a Clynelish from the independent bottler Samaroli. The whisky was distilled 1983 and bottled 2000, cask #2684, 36o bottles.
The whisky is available online at EUR 360-465.
Nose (22/25): A light and fresh nose! Lemon juice and cream. Actually it smells like lemon mousse. Wax and green apples, which is quite typical for Clynelish.
Taste (22/25): The taste is light, fresh and fruity! Ginger and apples dominate on the palate. Some pears as well.
Finish (22/25): In the finish the wax appears again, like it feels on the skin of green apples. Salty and slightly acidic. Lemon gives it a fresh finish.
Balance (22/25): This was a really nice whisky. Definitely balanced and fresh all the way. I would not mind having a bottle of this one at home.
Score (88/100)
Thanks for the recommendation, Marcus!
