I am tasting one of the many products produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery today. The Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch is produced using the Mash Bill #1 - low rye at Buffalo Trace, which means it contains less than 10 % rye.

Nose: Appealing notes of pepper, icing sugar, honey, unsalted peanuts, and tropical fruits.

Taste: Very smooth and sugary sweet. Light honey, maple syrup, icing sugar again - rather sweet in other words. The sweetness is tempered by a peppery warmth.

Finish: Medium to long finish. The peppery notes increase in warmth on the finish. Tropical fruits, toasted oak, cinnamon and creamy vanilla.

Comment: A robust dram that I’m sure the Colonel would be proud of!
