This is a single cask Cognac bottled exclusively for Norway. Actually it was selected by and bottled for the CIV Cognac club in Bergen.

The De Luze CIV Single Cask Final Batch is a Cognac Fine Champagne produced by Maison Boinaud. It is made with 100 % Ugni blanc grapes; and the blend was composed of 60 % grapes from Grand Champagne, and the rest from Petit Champagne.

This is a single cask release (cask #6634). Members of the CIV Cognac club selected the cask last year. Half the cask was actually bottled in 2019 as a 15 year old, then the rest was left in the cask for a further year and bottled in October 2020. This “batch 2” had an outturn of 348.

The De Luze CIV Single Cask Final Batch is available in Norway at NOK 600 for a 50 cl bottle (12432602).

Nose: Fine, old wine. Antique wooden desk. Chesterfield leather furniture - not new, but well worn. A warm and cozy library. With time lighter notes start to appear; hints of mint, eucalyptus, and grass. Vanilla, light caramel drizzle and memories of oak and citrus. Dry earth cellar. Then lots of orange zest.

Taste: Medium body and creamy mouthfeel. Cool and relaxed. Vanilla, minty chocolate, caramel and soft oaky notes.

Finish: Medium to long finish. More caramel, more fruity as well. Apples and hints of citrus. Milk chocolate. Somewhat spicy right at the end.

Comment: What can I say? I like it.

Score 88/100
