Deanston 2008 9 YO Brandy Cask Finish, 56.4 %

This official release spent its first 8 years in “traditional oak casks” and then received about a one year long finish in casks that previously held French brandy.

A bit odd that this whisky which was released sometime around early 2018 finds its way to Norway in late 2021.

The Deanston 2008 9 YO Brandy Cask Finish will be available in Norway starting this coming Monday at NOK 1000 (13558901).

Nose: A shy nose with soft oaky notes. There is some fruitiness here. With time also milk chocolate. Hints of cinnamon and nuts.

Taste: Full bodied and dry. A little bitter, rowan berries all the way for me. Red berries and honey.

Finish: Medium long finish. Remains dry and bitter-ish all the way. Cannot find a whole lot else going on actually

Comment: A bit strange with that dominant rowan berry note.
