Eiktyrne Triple French Oak

Eiktyrne Triple French Oak, NAS, 49.1%

The French Oak Countdown is finally at an end for Det Norske Brenneri. Here we have the Eiktyrne Tripe French Oak. Matured in a combination of ex-Bordeaux (225), ex-Burgundy (114L) and ex-Cognac (350L) French oak casks. Limited to 1044 bottles.

The Eiktyrne Triple French Oak goes on sale this Wednesday at NOK 840 (18665502).

Nose: Warm and inviting, with fresh honey cake, sun-warmed leather, and luscious butterscotch. Ripe orchard fruits and dark chocolate add depth, while unsalted peanuts, almond paste, and a dusting of cocoa powder unfold over time.

Taste: Medium-bodied, with the French oak leading the charge. A mild spiciness complements layers of fruit, rich caramel, tobacco leaves, chocolate, and leather.

Finish: Medium-long, intensifying on the caramel and creamy notes, yet drier as it settles. Hints of nuts, soft floral accents, and dried herbs linger at the end.

Comment: A beautifully balanced dram, rich and evocative.
