Fettercairn 16 YO - 2nd Release 2021, 46.4 %

This 2nd release of the Fettercairn 16 YO has been matured in a combination of ex-Oloroso and ex-Palo Cortado Sherry butts. The 1st release from 2020 was matured in a different cask mix; ex-bourbon, and then finished in ex-sherry and ex-port casks.

The Fettercairn 16 YO - 2nd Release 2021 will be available in Norway starting this Monday at NOK 1170 (14066301).

Nose: Balanced and appealing with a mildly spicy presentation. Caramel - quite the sugary sweet whisky this. Orchard fruits. With time sweeter and more fruity. Red berries as well.

Taste: Medium+ body. Ginger, sweet licorice and cinnamon. Orchard fruits and hints of nuts.

Finish: Medium long to long finish. Much the same as how it started. More nutty now, and a bit more spicy with white pepper mainly.

Comment: Huh, who’d a thunk it? This is a very decent Fettercairn.
