Flo og Fjære - Grimstad Edition

Flo og Fjære - Grimstad Edition, NAS, 50.3 %

More than 7 years ago the two Norwegian distilleries Det Norske Brenneri and Myken sent two 40 litre casks each to the other. Now these travelling casks are the basis for two bottlings - both becoming the first ever Norwegian blended malt (yes, both of them, as they are released at the same time).

Det Norske Brenneri received two ex-bourbon casks and combined this with 250 litre ex-PX and -ex-Oloroso sherry casks. Limited to 568 bottles.

The Flo og Fjære - Grimstad Edition is still available in Norway at NOK 1199 (15929002).

Nose: Softer and showcasing a deeper, darker fruitiness compared to Flo. Over time, notes of creamy vanilla, custard, strawberry ice cream, and almond milk emerge.

Taste: Full-bodied with a much spicier profile upfront than Flo. Flavors of chili and strawberry milkshake stand out, with hints of oak, green herbs, fizzy ginger, and white pepper.

Finish: Medium-long, transitioning to creamy vanilla and soft notes of dried fruits as the spiciness dissipates. Ends with a very pleasant landing.

Comment: Spicy, spicy!
