Fuji Gotemba 25 YO Single Grain Whisky, 46 %

This is a rare, old single grain whisky from the Fuji Gotemba distillery in Japan, owned by Kirin. The whisky has been matured in ex-bourbon barrels. It was made using corn/maize, and was released around 2015.

Nose: Sweet and laid back. Apples and grape juice. Vanilla and hints of milk chocolate. With time a soft caress of oak as well.

Taste: Very rich, and full bodied like a sumo wrrestler. Dessert chocolate, plums and tropical fruits. Corn syrup and maple syrup.

Finish: Very long finish. Borderline too sweet, but I «suffer» through. Not a lot of development, it just stays sweet, fruity and delightful.

Comment: Old, single grain from Japan! What’s not to love?
