The newly established Glasgow Distillery produces some peated whisky during the year, and here is the first result of that. The Glasgow Distillery 1770 Peated has been matured in virgin oak then finished for 6 to 9 months in ex-PX casks. The peat level in the malt is 50 ppm, and this is a double distilled whisky.

Nose: Earthy smoke, full blaze in an earth cellar. Tobacco and vanilla. With time also smoked meat - teriyaki beef jerky. Grilled oranges. With time even sweeter and more fruity.

Taste: Medium body. Sweet wood smoke. Earthy smoke. Sweet ashes. Again the grilled oranges. Dried fruits - raisins and figs. Cinnamon.

Finish: Medium long finish. More of the same. Warm and sweet. Hints of meatiness towards the end.

Comment: Young and vibrant! Go, Glasgow, go!
