This is a single cask release from independent bottler Berry Bros & Rudd. Distilled in 2011, this Glen Garioch is 12 years old. Initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in a single ex-Oloroso sherry cask (cask #1333). Limited to 209 bottles.

Nose: I completely agree with Thijs—there’s a noticeable salty and licorice-like character upfront. Orchard fruits and a mild hint of oak follow.

Taste: Full-bodied and playing a little rough. Boldly spicy, featuring pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, and aniseed. It’s quite earthy in character, almost chewy in texture.

Finish: Medium-long, retaining its spiciness but calming down over time, leaving behind earthy cinnamon, licorice, and a gentle oakiness.

Comment: Sharpish, with a spicy kick.
