Glen Spey 1991 25 YO (A.D. Rattray Cask Collection), 47.4 %
Glen Spey is not a distillery I have much experience with. It is a Speyside distillery, as suggested by the name. This particular whisky is an independent bottling by A. D Rattray, who are finally available in Norway.
The Glen Spey 1991 25 YO (A.D. Rattray Cask Collection) was distilled 1991-12-20 and bottled on 2017-10-27. It was matured in a bourbon hogshead (cask #800861), and the total outturn was 274 bottles.
Starting Friday May 4 you can buy the Glen Spey 1991 25 YO (A.D. Rattray Cask Collection) in Norway at NOK 1996 . You can also buy it online in the UK at around GBP 118.
Nose: Very light tropical notes caress my nose here. Honeydew melon with a sprinkling of icing sugar. Hints of pineapple juice. Marshmallows that have yet to be licked by flames.
Taste: Light bodied and fresh. Water melon and vanilla sauce. White and black pepper. Some oakiness - spicy and a touch oaky bitterness.
Finish: Medium long finish. Hard candy with light fruit flavors - lemons and pears. Still very light in character. It does have flavor all the way through though; it does not turn watery.
Comments: A very light single malt; it might remind you of an old grain whisky although the sweetness would give it away. One of very few old whiskies I have tried from Glen Spey.
