Glenglassaugh 12 YO

Glenglassaugh 12 YO, 45%

This new flagship product from Glenglassaugh was launched as a core range product in 2023. A great milestone for the distillery to have a 12 YO in their core range.

From the official product page:

“Glenglassaugh 12 Years Old is a harmonious balance of our signature coastal style; lush, tropical and coastal . Matured in bourbon, sherry and red wine casks for luscious waves of ripe fruit carried on an ocean breeze.”

The Glenglassaugh 12 YO is not yet available in Norway, but I expect that to be remedied shortly. You can buy it online at around GBP 47.

Nose: The aroma is captivating, showcasing warm caramel pudding, an assortment of dried fruits, and almond cake. There's a creamy essence reminiscent of almond milk and vanilla ice cream. Over time, the caramel notes deepen, accompanied by a gentle nuttiness and a subtle hint of salt.

Taste: The palate is medium-bodied and rich in fruitiness, accented with white pepper and a light oakiness. Flavors of milk chocolate and creamy vanilla emerge, along with a delicate citrus undertone, featuring lemon peel and fresh oranges. The nutty notes from the nose find their way here as well.

Finish: The finish extends medium-long, echoing the palate's richness with both milk and dark chocolate. It concludes with a light salinity and a refreshing touch of mint.

Comment: Exquisite aroma; delightful palate. This is a keeper!

Score 88/100

PS! There are quite a few creative bottles coming out these days. Not all of them great or eye-catching, but I must say this new bottle from Glenglassaugh looks very nice.
