Glenlossie-Glenlivet 1993 18 YO Sherry WoodTime now for a sherry matured whisky. This is a whisky distilled in 1993, and bottled in 2011 by independent bottler Cadenhead. The Glenlossie-Glenlivet 1993 18 YO has been matured in a sherry cask, and the total outturn was 258 bottles. Glenlossie is a Speyside distillery, owned by Diageo.

I have nothing else clever to say as an introduction to this, so let's just get to the tasting notes.

Nose (23/25): The type of sherry cask used is not specified on this whisky, but chances are it is Oloroso. Still I am reminded of Pedro Ximenez when I put my nose to the glass. It definitely has a pronounced sherry nose, and it is rather sweet. Ripe grapes, raisins, figs, berries, caramel, dark chocolate, orange peel and "Christmas spices" (cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger). Very nice!

Taste (23/25): Full, rich and with a massive entrance! Welcome, sweet sherry influenced whisky! The taste is much like the nose here; massive on the dark fruits, caramel and sweet goodness.

Finish (22/25): Warm and lingering. The "Christmas spices" from the nose are back, and they add a welcome contrast to the sweetness.

Balance (23/25): Wonderful!

Score (91/100)
