Glenmorangie Dornoch

The Glenorangie Dornoch is a limited edition whisky from this Highland distillery. It has been matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks, and then finished in Amontillado sherry butts.

The name of this whisky is taken from the Dornoch Firth, a vast sea estuary, near the distillery.

You can buy the Glenmorangie Dornoch at around GBP 72.

Nose: Even richer and softer than the travel retail variants I reviewed a short while back. Soft spices, dried fruits, red apples and vanilla. I find it a bit nondescript.

Taste: Medium body and full-on sweetness. Peppery at first, then softer and more fruity. Apples and pears. Hints of toasted oak.

Finish: Medium long finish. Baked apples with a hint of dry soot.

Comments: Fruity with a little edge to it.
