Hankey Bannister Heritage Blend

Hankey Bannister Heritage Blend, NAS, 46 %

A series of blended scotch whisky produced by Inver House Distillers. I have not seen any details on the composition of the Hankey Bannister Heritage Blend, but I assume it is at least similar to the Hankey Bannister Original. The original contains single malts from all five of the Inver House Distilleries: Pulteney, Balblair, Knockdhu, Speyburn and Balmenach.

More info on the official product page.

The Hankey Bannister Heritage Blend is available in the UK at around GBP 28.

Nose: Apple compote, with a sprinkling of cinnamon. nutmeg, honey and icing sugar. Deep, sweet barley notes. What seemed a little bland at first quickly dispels that notion. This is fruity and rich.

Taste: Medium body. On the sweet side, with apples and pears. Rich caramel sauce. A distinct spiciness throughout - white and black pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon.

Finish: Medium long. Black pepper, fresh ginger and ripe pears in the end. Darker notes in the form of toasted oak lurk in the background.

Comment: A very fine blend.
