A newmake product from New Kid on the Block Edinburgh distillery Holyrood. For this product they used two different yeast types; distiller’s yeast M Strain, and Brewer’s Yeast US05.

This is how they describe the product on their product page:

“Here we are showing how Brewer's yeast and Distilling yeast play well together. The ale yeast we use here is an American Ale yeast that adds a clean mouthfeel with notes of peach and soft citrus. This adds additional flavour to our new male against our Distiller's Yeast, M Strain, which is super efficient at converting fermentable sugars.”

The Holyrood Brewer’s Series - Brewer’s x Distiller’s Yeast will be available to buy in Norway tomorrow at NOK 724 (14050002).

Nose: The richer of the two Holyrood newmakes I’ve tried. Chocolate and malt. With time hints of dry twigs and tropical fruits.

Taste: Full bodied. Rich with lots of chocolate right away. Some pepperiness, but rather tempered.

Finish: Medium long. Dry chocolate and malt.

Comment: Gotta love this. I’ll be keeping my eye on you, Holyrood. You hear me?
