Invergordon 1973 Distilling is an Art, 42 YO, 52,4 %

Invergordon 1973 Distilling is an Art (Liquid Art & Beacon Spirits)This rare, old Invergordon grain whisky is a joint release from two independent bottlers in Belgium; Liquid Art and Beacon Spirits. The Invergordon 1973 Distilling is an Art was distilled in 1973 and bottled in 2016. The type of cask used is not specified, but it is a single cask release with a total outturn of 257 bottles.

You can buy the Invergordon 1973 Distilling is an Art directly from the Beacon Spirits online store at € 165. I would say this is a fairly reasonable price in this day and age.

Nose: Rich, sweet and fruity. Well, that's the short and (literally) sweet of it. But let's go into more detail. Melted strawberry vanilla ice cream. Pineapple juice, old oak, mint, menthol and apple jello.

Taste: Rich mouthfeel. Not as sweet as the nose indicated. Sort of chewy, in a good way. Pepper, cardamom, marzipan and almonds.

Finish: Long finish that really grows on you - give it a few sips. The almonds take more of a centre stage now. I also find a tempered, honey-like sweetness now which I really enjoy.

Comments: The finish is the star here. This whisky stays with you for a long time, and I am glad for it.
