Another independent bottling from the Càrn Mòr series from Morrison & Mackay today - the Invergordon 1987 31 YO (cask 902322) - Celebration of the Cask.

This is a single cask release, with distillation date 1987-06-22. It was matured in an American oak hogshead (cask #902322), and was bottled 2018-09-03. The total outturn was 237 bottles.

A few bottles came to Norway (“testutvalg”) in May and sold at NOK 1549, and you can get it in the UK at around GBP 135.

Nose: This is a grain whisky that is very welcoming - it greets me with open arms, you might say. Light notes of oranges and root vegetables just pulled out of the soil. Icing sugar. With time also white chocolate and tropical fruits. Very nice!

Taste: Medium body and lots of fruits. Apples, pears, bananas and apricots. White sugar and vanilla. A touch raw at first, but that is soon smoothed over.

Finish: Medium to long finish. The sweetness slowly morphs into a creamy chocolate and caramel swirl.

Comment: Great nose and finish on this one. Old grain - try it!

Score 88/100
