I thought I’d have a go at a reasonably priced bourbon today. The Kentucky Jack Straight Bourbon is a product I have never heard of before. After some digging I find that this is a product bottled in Belgium by Sodiko NV. Obviously this means the bourbon itself is sourced, as it is distilled in Kentucky, USA. There is no information on who the source might be.

Nose: Well-rounded and open. Sweet pastry, cinnamon and vanilla. Hints of icing sugar, honey glazed apples and toasted oak. A charming nose.

Taste: Medium body and on sweet side. White pepper and raw-ish oakiness. Apples, vanilla and cinnamon. A touch of after shave, but not enough to deter me in the slightest.

Finish: Medium long finish. Continues much as it started. I detect soft citrus notes towards the end.

Comment: Surprisingly pleasant dram.
