Ledaig 2004 10 YO 'Pink Salmon' Liquid Art
Ledaig 2004 'Pink Salmon' Liquid Art, 10 YO, 51,6 %
The independent bottler Liquid Art released a Ledaig as their third whisky. We have already reviewed their other whiskies released so far:
- Glen Elgin 1995 19 YO 'Stag beetle' Liquid Art
- Bunnahabhain 1987 27 YO 'The Osprey' Liquid Art
- Clynelish 1997 17 YO
Ledaig is the peated whisky from Tobermory. This is only my third Ledaig ever, all three from independent bottlers. The first two gave me quite mixed signals on what to expect from the distillery.
Todays Ledaig was distilled in 2004 and spent 10 years in a bourbon hogshead, until it was bottled in 2014. It is a part of a split cask and Liquid Art released 176 bottles.
Ledaig 2004 'Pink Salmon' is available to buy directly from Liquid Art at EUR 70.
Nose (23/25): Smoke and vanilla. Rich and warm. Some gasolin - in a good way! Lemon and grapes. Fresh. A bit dry, actually. Complex and keeps changing throughout my sniffing.
Taste (23/25): Smoke...really smoky this one! Rich taste. Mostly vanilla, licorice, lemon and ashes. Not very complex to taste, but powerful!
Finish (22/25): White pepper, smoke, ashes and licorice. The sweetness disappears.
Balance (22/25): Wow! This was a well balanced and powerful Ledaig.
