Another heavily peated whisky from Springbank today. The Longrow 2003 14 YO Sherry Cask Matured. It was distilled back in September 2003, 100 % matured in refill Oloroso sherry casks, and then bottled in July 2018. This is a limited release of 9000 bottles.

Nose: We are definitely back on the farm, in Funkytown! Bathing in dried fruits, while the surrounding woods and peat bogs are on fire. Around us there are apple trees heavy with ripe, red apples. Add to this a drizzle of vanilla covered strawberries and you’re all set!

Taste: Medium to full body. Salt and pepper with dried fruits and fiery sherry ashes. Dry in character.

Finish: Medium long finish. Drier still now, as it remains both sherried, fruity and peaty.

Comment: I enjoyed this. I see other reports of this expression being sulphury, but I disagree.
