Lord Elcho is a blended whisky from Wemyss Malts. The Lord Elcho 15 YO was first released in September 2012. It contains 60 % grain and 40 % malt whisky.

Nose (22/25): Caramel, mild citrus, fried banana with cream, a mild hint of smoke, and lovely vanilla notes. More citrus after some time in the glass. An impressive nose with just the right balance.

Taste (22/25): Rich and full-bodied. Coal (surprisingly!), caramel and dark chocolate. Chocolate mousse with bits of caramelized fruits. Very smooth.

Finish (21/25): Ginger mixed with mild oakiness. Soft sherry notes. Fizzy and warm.

Balance (21/25): Took me by surprise - in a very positive way!
