Michter's 20 YO Single Barrel Bourbon (2015)
Michter's 20 YO Single Barrel Bourbon (2015), 57.1 %
Apologies in advance for this review. This fine bourbon is long gone. If you are lucky enough to come across a bottle, and the price is not an arm and a leg (which it will probably be), then go for it!
I have previously been lucky enough to also review the Michter's 20 YO Single Barrel Bourbon (2014) (see review). This review is for the 2015 edition.
Nose: Deep, rich and delicious. Corn sweetness so delicate and refined like you would not believe. Vanilla and molasses. Maple syrup (mild though, not the heavy-handed bottom-shelf stuff). Toasted oak, chocolate, coffee beans and hints of tropical fruits. I .. want .. to .. smell .. this .. forever.
Taste: This suit is packed, custom made at a high street tailor, of the finest cloth and bulging in all the right places. Spicy oranges, earthy vanilla, tropical fruits on the grill, honey and assorted nuts.
Finish: Long finish. Spicy all the way. A delightful mix of oaky notes, juicy oranges and green herbs towards the end. Hint of mint in the end.
Comment: This is what Pappy 20+ YO should have been. The nose is absolutely perfect!
Score 93/100
Massive thanks to Kurt and Stephen for this!
