New whisky releases Norway - November 2016

It's that time of year again. The big pre-Christmas release of whisky in Norway. This always occurs on the first Friday of November, and the Oslo whisky festival is always held the same weekend. A perfect storm of whisky fun, if you like. This time we can enjoy 80+ releases. Most are new releases, but there are a few re-releases as well. You will find all of the Diageo Special release 2016 whiskies. Notable here is the massive price difference on the Diageo Special releases when you compare Norway and Sweden.

I've said it before, but it I will repeat it again - expensive whisky is reasonably priced in Norway compared to most anywhere else in the world. A couple of examples: Port Ellen 37 YO Limited Edition will cost NOK 21 999 compared to SEK 29 999, Brora 38 YO Limited Edition will cost NOK 11 999 compared to SEK 17 399. That's a bizarre difference!

I am very excited to see two new Norwegian whiskies launched! Two releases of Gjoleid from Arcus, this time 'almost 5 yo'. There is a ton of old Glenfarclas, many Cadenhead Small Batch releases, and of course the Big Peat Christmas Edition.
