Nikka Blended Whisky
Nikka Blended Whisky, NAS, 40 %
This is an entry level whisky from Japanese whisky produced Nikka. It is made up of single malt from their Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries, and probably a bit if single malt from Scottish distillery Ben Nevis as well. The grain component is (all or mostly) from Miyagikyo.
The Nikka Blended Whisky is (soon) available to buy in Norway at NOK 640 (10554901). In the UK at around GBP 35.
Nose: Medium sweetness on the nose. The sweetness I do detect is of the darker kind. Dark chocolate, malt and coffee beans. It appears rich and robust.
Taste: Medium body and a rich sweetness. Mellow and fruity, and again with a dark-ish side. Orchard fruits and memories of Japanese temples (incense and wood).
Finish: Medium long finish. It comes across as drier now. The coffee beans and dark chocolate from the nose are back. The fruitiness is here as ripe, red apples. Roasted and toasted oak, and towards the end a light bitterness.
Comments: Very easy drinking.
