Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt

Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt

The Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt is the (relatively) new NAS (No Age Statement) whisky that was launched after Nikka withdrew all their old age statement whiskies and the old NAS versions from Miyagikyo and Yoichi.

You can pickup a bottle of the Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt online at around GBP 67.

Nose: Not very sweet on the nose. There's some barley and cereal here. Soft fruitiness - mainly banana and dried apple. Hints of oak and a whiff of onion soup (not sure where that came from. I am not cooking as I review this, I swear!).

Taste: Medium body and soft mouthfeel. Nicely balanced with sweets (fruit candy and golden syrup) and spices (cinnamon, licorice, nutmeg and ginger). Barley and something herbal.

Finish: Medium long finish. Honey and ripe banana. Licorice and white pepper. Bitter-ish wood notes towards the end.

Comments: Nicely balanced and easy drinking. I do miss the older age statement Miyagikyo whiskies...
