Reservoir Distillery 2 YO Corn - batch 1 (TBWC)
Reservoir Distillery 2 YO Corn - batch 1, 47.5 %
Here’s my second review on products from Virginia based Reservoir Distillery. Again this is batch 1, and the mashbill here is 100 % corn. The total outturn for this batch was 481 bottles. This is an independent bottling from That Boutique-y Whisky Company.
The Reservoir Distillery 2 YO Corn - batch 1 is available to buy online at around GBP 55.
Nose: Sweeter and softer than the wheat version. Vanilla, banana cake, milk chocolate, toasted oak and a touch of cinnamon and cardamom.
Taste: Full-bodied and a little on the rough side. Plenty of pepper up front. It has a distinct burnt note to it; toasted oak, maple syrup and perfumed toffee.
Finish: Medium long. More low-key on the finish. The burnt notes fade away and we are left with a mildly spicy caramel sauce mixed with vanilla and honey.
Comment: Surprisingly a whiskey that is too sweet for me. My sweet tooth must be out of practice.
