Scapa 16 YO Orkney Single Malt

Scapa 16 YO Orkney Single Malt, 48%

This marks the relaunch of the Scapa 16 YO. The old version was discontinued in 2015, and I reviewed it back in the summer of 2016. The old version was also matured in ex-bourbon casks, but it was bottled at 40% ABV back then. The new version is bottled at 48% ABV, which is much closer to my heart (yeah, you can probably measure that distance by ABV - up to a point!). Check out the official product page for more info.

The Scapa 16 YO Orkney Single Malt is available to buy in Norway at NOK 1199 (17481201).

Nose: Rich and bourbon-like, with creamy vanilla at the forefront. Mild spiciness and a hint of citrus emerge over time.

Taste: Full-bodied, featuring a lovely blend of vanilla, caramel, tropical fruits, and a touch of rowan berries.

Finish: Medium-long, with a surprising burst of nuttiness. Milk chocolate and a hint of coconut round out the experience.

Comment: Smooth, layered, and packed with flavor.
