Smoke Wagon Small Batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey, NAS, 50 %

Smoke Wagon Bourbon is produced by Nevada H&C Distilling Co., located in the heart of downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the first time I review one of their products. As far as I can tell they started distilling (officially) in 2016.

This bourbon of theirs is a high rye bourbon, meaning there is a relatively high proportion of rye in the mashbill. It has to contain at least 51 % corn though, as it is a bourbon.

Nose: Soft, smooth, shy.. Hmm.. let’s have a closer sniff. Caramel, maple syrup, rich and floral honey. Marshmallows.

Taste: Rich and full bodied. Very peppery up front. Then creamy, grassy green, and spearmint fresh.

Finish: Medium long finish. Toasted oak and hints of soot now. Black pepper and earthy cinnamon. Almost chewy in character now. Chewing gum.

Comment: Rich and enjoyable.
