Spheric Spirits 1994 25 YO Islay Single Malt Whisky, 48.4 %

A rather special release by independent bottler Spheric Spirits. This is a vatting of 1993 and 1994 vintages and bottled after 25 years. The distillery is not disclosed, but it is very likely an Ardbeg. Distilled on site by personnel from the neighboring distillery Laphroaig. All in all just 407 bottles released.

This Spheric Spirits 1994 25 YO Islay Single Malt Whisky is sold out everywhere else, but goes on sale in Norway on November 17 at NOK 4214 (14969301).

Nose: This highly approachable nose is both sweet and rich. Honey and citrus notes mixed with soft notes of wood smoke and warm ashes. Mildly medicinal in character.

Taste: Full bodied, rich and powerful. There is some oakiness here, but it is rather fresh and lively for a 25 year old. Peppery with lots of black smoke, peat and ashes. Vanilla and a twist of lemon zest.

Finish: Long finish. A little dry. Dark, oaky, smoky and rich.
