This a a bottling in the Old Particular series from independent bottler Douglas Laing. The Strathmill 1993 21 YO Old Particular was distilled in January 1993, and matured for 21 years in cask #10585. It was bottled in December 2014, with a total outturn of 320 bottles.

I am not sure you can find this exact expression available to buy still, but there should be similar ones as Douglas Laing keep pouring out quality single cask releases.

Nose: Honey and green notes at first. Hmm..let’s give it a few minutes, as it appears to be on the shy side. Vanilla, milk chocolate and a bouquet of wild flowers in the background.

Taste: Medium to full body. You can tell this dram has been swimming around in a cask for a good few years. The oak is very much present, but (luckily) does not completely overpower. It is floral, with lots of orchard fruits. Honey and cream. Bitter oranges.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Honey and cream - or perhaps milk and honey? A pinch of pepper. Mildly bitter towards the end - oranges and oak.

Comment: Fine and dandy, but a touch too bitter and oaky to score higher.

Score 85/100
