Teaninich 2007 15 YO (Hart Brothers)

Teaninich 2007 15 YO (Hart Brothers), 53.6 %

It’s been years since I last reviewed a release from independent bottler Hart Brothers. This month we will finally see the first releases from Hart Brothers in Norway. A new importer (Cadus) will be representing them in Norway. We’re starting off with a review of this 15 year old Teaninich. Distilled January 2007, matured in a single American oak cask, and bottled September 2022.

This whisky goes on sale in Norway on January 11 at NOK 1822 (15094201).

Nose: Mild mannered, light footed and soft spoken. With time it opens up and presents me with notes of fresh orchard fruits - and tropical fruits, creamy vanilla and strawberries. With further time I get more red berries and orange zest.

Taste: Rich and full bodied. Black and white pepper - even some chili. Creamy vanilla. Orange marmalade, followed by orange and lime zest. Hints of oak.

Finish: Medium long finish. The spices dissipate and are replaced by fruity sweetness. Citrusy tartness as top notes. Some oaky astringency in the end.

Comment: A whisky walk through an orange grove.

Score 86/100
