Teeling 33 YO Vintage Reserve Collection, 42,9 %

Teeling 33 YO Vintage Reserve CollectionThe Teeling Whiskey Co.  recently released one of the oldest Irish Whiskeys ever, the Teeling 33 YO Vintage Reserve Collection.

Here is the official blurb from the Teeling website:

"The Teeling Whiskey Company is proud to introduce this special release of some of the oldest Irish Single Malt in the world. Consisting of two hand selected casks of some of the oldest Irish Single Malt ever bottled this is an extremely rare release of Irish Whiskey. Distilled in 1983 and aged exclusively in ex-American oak Bourbon barrels which after 33 years of maturation produced only 275 bottles and an alcohol strength of 42.9%."

There are a few bottles left to buy of the Teeling 33 YO Vintage Reserve Collection, at the fresh price of GBP 2292.

Nose: Delicate sweetness meets the nose on the first sniff; it is sugary and fruity. There's also citrus notes here, for sure - mainly lime and orange zest. Soft maltiness forms a base. It is very well-balanced and integrated.

Taste: Rich and full-bodied, with medium sweetness. Again rather fruity. Citrus and ripe, baked apples. White pepper. On subsequent sips the fruits turn more tropical - banana, pineapple and coconut.

Finish: Long finish. It appears drier now, reminding me somewhat of a dry cider on the finish, only a tad more sweet.

Comments: Wow! Surely one of the best Irish whiskeys I have had. Such a well-composed dram. Fresh!

Score (92/100)
