Today I present a rye whiskey from Kentucky, the Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye.

This is a classic rye with a mashbill that has 53 % rye, slightly over the required 51 %. The proportions of corn and barley used is not known to me.

Nose: Creamy and sweet. Pepper - black and white. Orchard fruits and marzipan. Warm leather and milk chocolate. Red berries in the back.

Taste: Medium body and a fairly spicy delivery. Dry with a green touch.

Finish: Medium to short. Fades away quickly. There's some caramel, red berries, vanilla and pepper - then poof.

Comment: A middle of the road rye.
