Yellow Rose Harris County Bourbon

Yellow Rose Harris County Bourbon, 2 YO, 46 %

yellow-rose-harris-county-bourbon.png

This is a high rye bourbon from the Houston, Texas , based distillery Yellow Rose Distilling. 25% of the mashbill is Texas-grown rye and the rest is all Texas grown corn and malted barley. This product was launched this summer. The Yellow Rose Harris County Bourbon has been matured for about 30 months.

Nose: Gentle and mild. Perfume and tobacco leaves. White pepper and mint. Vanilla, corn and banana.

Taste: Medium body. White pepper, banana and creamy vanilla.

Finish: Medium long finish. Mint added to the mix now. Pepper, banana and vanilla still though.

Comment: Very simple, but I can dig the peppery notes. A fair amount of rye in the mash bill perhaps?

Score 82/100

PS! My tasting notes were, as usual, written before I studied the product details, hence the rye related guess in my comments.
