Agitator Argument Kastanj
Agitator Argument Kastanj, 3 YO, 46 %
Fairly new Swedish distillery Agitator arrives on the market with a big splash of unusual and high quality whisky. First we got their three year old single malt, partly matured in chestnut casks (see review), and now we get a 3 YO which has initially been matured in ex-bourbon casks and then finished for a full year in chestnut casks! How cool is that? Well, for a whisky nerd that is very cool indeed.
You can still buy the Agitator Argument Kastanj in Sweden at SEK 599 (40414).
Nose: Honey and caramel. Warm and sweet. Again the apple and citrus mix I found in the Agitator Single Malt. Pancakes and maple syrup. Keeps developing nicely in the glass.
Taste: Medium to full bodied. Oily and creamy in character. White pepper, toasted oak wood. Rich caramel. Sweet but not overwhelmingly so.
Finish: Medium long finish. Tempered tannins tickling the tonsils. White pepper, dry ginger, earthy cinnamon. Fizzy and fun, just like the Agitator Single Malt.
Comment: Great fun! Definitely closely related to the Agitator Single Malt.
