Still some nice memories from Cinderella Whisky Fair 2014.

I do love whiskies from Bruichladdich in general, and Port Charlotte has never ever disappointed me. So, when I was about to taste this 11 YO Port Charlotte from Malts of Scotland as the last whisky in the morning tasting on Cinderella, I was very excited.

This whisky was distilled in 2001-12-01 and bottled 2013-10-01. It was matured in a sherry hogshead with cask number MoS 13052. In total there were 292 bottles.

Unfortunately this whisky is not available in Norway or Sweden.

Nose (24/25): Wow! I was really impressed from the very first sniff! Very full, rich and complex. Fresh at first with citrus, lime I think. Then poof! Salt, smoke, iodine, licorice and leather.

Taste (24/25): The taste fulfills the promise of the nose! Still full, rich and complex. The smoke and citrus makes a nice combination. After a while there is licorice mixing with caramel into a lovely taste.

Finish (23/25): In the end the smoke is dominating. The sweetness from the caramel is still there. A bit dry.

Balance (23/25): Sometimes I laugh at my own tasting notes. I really did so this time. From what I described above, you wouldn't think of this as a very sweet whisky, do you? Well, in my notes I have written: "Maybe a bit too sweet, actually". I don't remember this whisky as too sweet at all. It was a very rich and complex and 'heavy' whisky. I guess my remark should explain why the score was 23 instead of 24 or 25.
