I continue my journey through the world of blended whisky this week by tasting the Chivas Regal Extra. This is a relatively new addition to the Chivas regal core range. It was released late 2014.

You can buy the Chivas Regal Extra in Norway at NOK 515 (3609801), and online at around GBP 35. It does not appear to be available to buy in Sweden.

Nose: Rich, sweet and fruity. Apples, bananas. A bit rum-like, with hints of coffee beans. Wet sawdust, nuts, strawberries and cold coffee.

Taste: Medium body. Sugary and quite sweet. Spongecake with banana cream and strawberries. Hmm. Add mild caramel sauce, honey and a sprinkling of crushed nuts as well.

Finish: Medium to short finish. Caramel, slightly burnt edge - toast. Dark chocolate.

Comments: Quite OK. I particularly appreciate the nose on the Chivas Regal Extra.
