Eiktyrne Quadruple Batch III

Eiktyrne Quadruple Batch III, NAS, 49.8%

This is the third batch of the Eiktyrne Quadruple series from Det Norske Brenneri, Norway. The idea here is - as advertised by the name - to present single malt whiskies matured in four different types of casks. This third batch has been matured in a combination of ex-Oloroso sherry casks, ex-Moscatel casks, ex-Rivesaltes casks and ex-Pedro Ximènez casks. Limited to 795 bottles and released late 2023.

The Eiktyrne Quadruple Batch III is still available to buy in Norway at NOK 870 (16698002).

Nose: Deep and melancholic in character. Dried fruits, Autumn leaves, floral honey, beeswax, dark caramel and ripe, red apples. With time also hints of pencil shavings and chocolate mousse.

Taste: Full bodied. Very fruity and rich up front. Then a wave of red berries, light spiciness and even grape juice.

Finish: Medium long finish. Very mellow and laid back finish. More of the same, but utterly relaxed.

Comment: Relaxing holiday dram.
